UHIN Testing and Certification
UHIN has formed a strategic alliance with Claredi, a third-party testing and certification service. By using Claredi, you can certify your ability to create HIPAA transactions in the eyes of all other healthcare entities, and you do not have to demonstrate your capability to each individual payer.
Claredi’s system currently tests the 835 (claim payment), 837 (institutional, professional and dental claims), 270/271 (eligibility), 276/277 (claim status), 820 (premium payment), and 834 (enrollment) transactions to all seven levels. You must pass all six levels to qualify for certification. Claredi also tests for a seventh level which addresses the HIPAA requirements for Medicare and Medicaid transactions.
When you submit a transaction to Claredi’s testing system, you will receive a thorough analysis of your transaction which specifically details exactly where any problems reside. You can even click on the position where the error occurred in the file and be taken directly to the applicable loop/segment in the HIPAA transaction specification (called an implementation guide).
If you pass all the testing types for all of the various types of claims that you submit, you become certified. This certification gets posted on a public web site (hosted by Claredi) and serves as your proof that you can create HIPAA transaction. This certification demonstrates a “good faith” effort in complying with the law and could prevent fines if there was ever a question about being HIPAA compliant.
Testing and certification are renewed annually through UHIN and our members are offered this service at a significantly reduced price. Should you make any changes to systems or files, you may retest or recertify without any additional fees.
If you are interested in testing and certifying with UHIN’s Claredi Tool and your membership is current, contact the Member Relations Team at (801) 466-7705 Ext. 211 for further information.
