UHINt Receives Updates

02/01/2011
News >> Community News

If you use UHINt 2.5, you may have noticed that around mid January you were prompted to accept some updates. The changes UHIN implemented include a fix for Medicare Coordination of Benefit (COB) claims, a change for the Service Location box, adding a field to the 277FE display, and more. Check out each of the sections below for a description of the update and how it affects you.

Medicare COB

Until this update, hand-entry users were unable to send COB claims to Medicare. UHINt 2.5 has been altered to accommodate Medicare's COB requirements. So if you have been waiting to send your secondary claims to Medicare, you need not wait any longer. If you do not know how to submit COB claims, contact UHIN (877-693-3071) and ask for a training session from your area representative.

Service Location Required

In order to accommodate 5010 version requirements, UHIN has updated the facility location field (Box 32 in the Professional form). In accordance with the new standards, the location of the service is now required when the place of service (POS) is anything other than office (11) or home (12). So if your POS code is 11 or 12, you can continue billing as normal. If you use any other code, UHINt will require that box 32 be populated before submission.

277FE Line Level Display

The display UHINt generates for the 277FE report has been updated to show line level as well as claim level information. This means that if you submit multiple service lines for a patient, UHINt can display line level acceptance/rejection information sent back by the payer. Please note that not all payers generate this level of detail in the 277FE report.

Institutional NDC Code

The Institutional (UB04) form has received a new NDC button; it appears next to the area for Service Line Rates (box 49). When the user clicks on the NDC button, a pop-up window appears. This window includes fields for a prescription number- up to 30 characters- and as many as 10 National Drug Codes (NDCs).

Insurance Type Code

A new menu is now available for hand-entry users submitting secondary (COB) claims to Medicare. When either Medicare A or Medicare B and the COB option are selected, a new drop-down menu appears below the Bill Type. The menu is titled "Medicare Secondary Ins Type", and includes such options as "Medicare Secondary Working Aged Beneficiary or Spouse with Employer Group", "Medicare Secondary Veteran's Administration", and others to indicate various insurance types.

HTML Attachments

UHINt now has the ability to upload HTML attachments. In the "Files" main menu, under the "Send Attachments" tab, there are drop-down menus to indicate the type of file being sent. An HTML option now appears under the menus for Standard and Type (when uploading an HTML file, it is not necessary to enter a version). Please note that Utah Medicaid is the only payer currently accepting electronic attachments, although a number of payers are working on that ability.

If you have any questions regarding these updates, please contact the UHIN Helpdesk (877-693-3071).
