The 5010 transition is approaching, and as more people are getting their offices ready for the changes they are looking for answers and resources. To facilitate getting information to the community, UHIN has created a section in the Education and Training area of our website to specifically address 5010. To start, it goes over “What is 5010?” and defines many terms commonly associated with the transition. It also has timelines, descriptions of what to expect, testing information, contacts, resources, commonly asked questions, and more.

For anyone who does not yet know about 5010, it is very basically a change in electronic claim format. However, it is a nationwide change that will impact- on some level- virtually every facet of healthcare billing. Now, in the last quarter of 2010, we are at the perfect time to begin preparations for a smooth transition. So if you are not sure how to prepare your office or how to avoid 5010-related interruptions to your cash flow, this is the perfect time to check out our resource center for some answers.

This education and resource center will evolve and receive continual updates as the 5010 transition gets closer. As the nation moves towards this massive transition in electronic format, more information will become available and the specific needs of the community will become more apparent. So keep checking when you have new questions, and feel free to offer feedback on which information would be most useful to you.

To view this 5010 Resource Center, please visit our 5010 transition page. Or, look under “Membership” and then “Education and Training”.
