5010 Transition
Steps to take if you have a Direct Connection to UHIN’s gateway
A Direct Connection is a direct link between a Practice Management or EMR system and the UHINet II gateway. No intermediary link (such as UHINt 2.5 or Proclaim) is required to submit claims and receive reports.
- You must currently use a Web Services connection to send 5010 transactions.
- If you are using a Legacy connection, please see the Web Services specification as soon as possible.
- Go to the UHIN website for the UHIN Web Service Technical Reference Manual documentation, or contact UHIN at 877-693-3071.
- If you would like to utilize an SFTP connection or software that will utilize the Web Services connection, please contact UHIN after July 1, 2011.
- 5010 test transactions will utilize the User Testing (Sundance) environment.
- 5010 Readiness Resources
- UHIN Standards for version 5010 transactions
- 5010 implementation guides are available on the WPC_EDI website
- The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
- Important: implement the errata to the 5010, not just the original 5010 guidelines.
- The errata outline changes to the original guidelines and must be included in implementation. For more information, see this press release concerning errata.
Please note that all 5010 implementation guides must be legally purchased. We appreciate your understanding.
- Your routes will need 5010 permissions. Please contact UHIN to get the correct permissions added.
- At that time, UHIN will also give you information on the mandatory UHIN 5010 Acceptance Testing (up to HIPAA level 2).
- Once that testing is successfully completed, you may begin to work with individual payers and/or clearinghouses.
- At that time, UHIN will also give you information on the mandatory UHIN 5010 Acceptance Testing (up to HIPAA level 2).
