Mission Statement
The mission of the Utah Health Information Network (UHIN) is to provide the consumer of health care services with reduced costs, improved health care quality and access, and to facilitate research by:
- Creating and managing an electronic value-added network to link the health care community participants in the State of Utah for the purpose of interchanging important financial and clinical information
- Analyzing data to develop standards for health care data and health care reporting, electronic interface development, and communication services; and achieve and maintain data consistency
- Gathering and providing data to a state-wide health data collection effort; preserving that data from improper exchanges and sharing of information among competing entities which share the network
- Conducting educational programs consistent with the purposes for which the Corporation was organized
- Providing charitable service which lessens the burden of government by providing data to help state agencies fulfill their responsibilities as legislatively mandated
This shall be done in compliance with national data standards. UHIN will focus its efforts on increased efficiencies and reduction of administrative costs so that the entire Utah health care community, including the consumer of health care services, may benefit.
