Getting Started with UHIN


UHIN provides a low cost solution for exchanging administrative and clinical data through a secure internet gateway. UHIN supports all HIPAA transactions: claims (837) and their acknowledgement (997, 864, 277FE), electronic remittance advice (835), eligibility (270/271), claims status (276/277), preauthorization (278) and enrollment (834).  Most Utah payers including Utah Medicaid are connected with UHIN in addition to thousands of National payers. UHIN is connected with the majority of Utah Healthcare Providers and supports exchange of clinical data including images (DICOM).

Step 1 - Electronic Commerce Agreement (ECA)

Download and print the UHIN Electronic Commerce Agreement. To retrieve the ECA click here. Please read the agreement carefully and have the appropriate individual sign it.

Step 2 - Attachment A - Pricing

Download, print, and complete the applicable Attachment A. There is an Attachment A for providers, hospitals, payers and clearinghouses.  Select and click on the appropriate Attachment A. 

If you are a provider or hospital and want to use the UHINSpeedi product for electronic credentialing, please complete the UHINSpeedi Service Addendum.  For more information on the UHINSpeedi product, please click here.

Step 3 – PC Configuration Questionnaire

Download and print the PC Configuration Questionnaire.  This provides us information regarding your connection. Click here to go to the questionnaire

Step 4 – Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)

Download and print the Non-Disclosure Agreement.  If you are using a software vendor to connect to UHIN, they will need to complete this form as well. Click here to go to the Non-Disclosure Agreement.

Step 5 – Send completed forms to UHIN

Once your paperwork has been received by UHIN, we will send you a letter designating your trading partner number(s) and a list of your next steps.  Should you have any questions, feel free to contact UHIN at (801) 466-7705 x200.

Step 6 – Contact your Payers

You will need to contact the payers individually to enroll with them as authorized submitters for each of the transactions that you want to submit. Click here for a list of payer contact information. They will review their testing procedures at this time.
